So now as I write this we are in Fougeres. It's been another sunny day though not as hot as the previous days. We set off as soon after breakfast as we could, mindful of the kms ahead and my cold had worsened over night. Being Sunday everywhere was incredibly quiet. The first 15 - 20 kms were along beautiful country lanes. We passed about 2 cars in 2 hours and biked though the middle of farms and farm houses. The only sounds of life ...

... It takes a wee bit of concentration and working out, but its not so difficult to be stressful, more an adventure. A good practice to do is give yourself 15 minutes at least before departure so you can be on top of things or find help. ... direction to follow!
Vannes is 13th century and has medieval ramparts and watchtowers and gates and there are beautiful halftimbered houses and buildings behind the townwalls. As we were only there for one day we took a mini bus trip which took us all around the old city and outside the walls! Afterwards we visited the Cathedral and visited one of the many delightful cafes eating patisseries! There is a lovely port area and the town has a great atmosphere also not ...

    The Castle in the valley

... intention proved optimistic and it seems that the Castle fell to anyone who could muster a few mates and had the intention to take it.

The Castle was closed as we arrived at dusk but we wandered around the grounds and took some photos of the lovely old town that surrounded the castle.
