... in like sardines! We didn’t have a plan B as there were no campsites open at all at this time of year so all we could do was the same as everyone else, secure a space!

To be on the safe side we put a ticket on the car and hoping for the best, walked into La Rochelle in the pouring rain. La Rochelle is a beautiful old town with a lovely old harbour and full of very expensive boutiques but unfortunately the weather was ...

have been here, walking down the streets of Rochefort every day, I
have noticed plenty a baguette, as well as, yes A LOT of people
smoking, more than I would ever see in Kenora or in Thunder Bay when

I’m hoping that I will be able to see the beauty of Marseille
through the eyes of a Canadian tourist and be grateful that I get to
tour almost all of the south of France.

... By lunchtime we had managed to avoid the heavy downpours but gave up our preferred stop overlooking the sun soaked beach for a garden centre entrance to escape the storm force winds. We had decided to push on towards Sable d'Olonne until torrential rain and winds forced us to shelter in a bus garage to re-group. Amazingly we opted to abort camping, let alone wild camping in favour of chamber d'hôtel. After ...

... crevettes (shrimps to us plebs). Then round the harbour at La Rochelle before arriving at Marsilly overlooking the sea for our first camping overlooking the sunset across the sea; and our first oysters. All in all a very good day. Bon soir. Ps we passed the 1000 mile mark 2 miles before our campsite this ...
