... frazzeled nerves but othewise safely.
Taylorsville State Park is lovely. The park is very quiet and peaceful. There is not much to do there other than walk trails but the park itself is very pretty. They have 30amp service and water but no sewers. The lots are nicely spaced and it was not crowded. The bathrooms were immaculate and the staff was very friendly and courteous.
We stayed until Tuesday and next stop is Bowling Green, KY.
... able to see the show grounds of the world equestian games and other neat competitions. We walked all over the park and saw tonds of horses. While it was kind of a bummer to find out the place in under constuction, Sarah was excited to know that they were preparing for the 2010 World Equestian Games.

We saw First Defense, Mizzen Mast, and Empire Maker (who in recent years won at the Belmont Stakes). Empire Maker alone is worth about $15 million, and produces many champion babies that are sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

When we went to the local historical museum Jim asked the receptionist why they were playing classical music and not Bluegrass? She made it pretty clear that Bluegrass belongs in southern Kentucky and is not really popular in Lexington. It leads me to believe that in her opinion the people here are more ...

After dinner I watched the local news and apparently they believe that there were some tornado touchdowns in the area. I am so happy to be here with no damage to car, trailer, bike and me. As I am typing this, the lights in the room are changing brightness as the wind continues to howl outside. Distance travelled: 400 miles (640 Km)
Lexington, Kentucky, United States jstephenscaFor the Fourth of July, my parents came to visit. We had a great time cooking out, watching the parade in Lexington, and shooting off fire works. Shakers Village is just a short drive from our house and definately worth seeing. We toured the grounds and learned about the unique life-style of the Shakers. The restaurant there has the best home-cooked meals with original recipes dating back to the mid-1800's.

My Aunt Karen and Uncle Cy also got to tour the Keeneland stables, as well as visit art stores in Lexington and tour Four Roses distillery. After having visitors at our house, Joseph and I decided that we needed to visit some of our friends and family, too.
Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, United States hillaryjosephToday, I drove from Louisville to Lexington to have lunch with a friend. The horse ranches around the area are gorgeous -- clearly gentlemen ranchers, not true farmers. I saw lots of men in camouflage, so I decide NOT to walk in the woods, lest I be mistaken ...
