Bendigo is a beautiful city filled with lots of wide tree-lined streets, fabulous old mansions, a stunning cathedral, and beautiful gardens, lakes and best of all, a Beechworth Bakery with the best cakes known to man.

... streets when we saw a young girl on a trap being pulled by two small donkeys. She had her ipod on, and was on her way to the shops. What a great sight! The town was as if time had stood still, and the locals were standing around chatting, or sitting on a bench in the sun, and there was such a sense of peace about the place. For beautiful high class food, check out the Shamrock Hotel up on the balcony, overlooking the clock tower. Or for something a bit more contemporary, try the food at El Gordo (Spanish for the Fat One). Bendigo is a city on the rise, and it's definitely worth a visit.
