I'm so fortunate that one of the friends I have known since Kindergarten had been reading my blog and saw that I was passing her way. Susan and her husband Doug have a beautiful home located on the Winnipeg River, which flows from Lake Winnipeg, north of the Whiteshell area in eastern Manitoba into the Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Susan graciously invited me to stop in for a visit and enjoy their hospitality overnight. I ...

... accounting business office. To a kid...this translated into a constant supply of nails and scrap lumber. With the help of many childhood friends/cousins, I built probably one of the most elaborate tree houses a 7-14 year old probably could've. I walked the girls around the yard last night, pointing out groves of trees I planted when I was their age, and the massive garden spot, now moved and considerably smaller.  I ran this morning down ...

          We have arrived!

A travel blog entry by mountaingirlz on Jul 01, 2015

We did great! Pulled into my parents house at 7pm, 1550 miles later. We left at 11:30am Sunday, so that's just under 80 hrs w/three kids and an afternoon on the beach. And I might add on a budget! Overnight expenses totaled only $18. I have yet to figure gas, but the price dropped 40-50 cents per gallon as we headed Westward. I estimate about $275 on gas. Most of our food was from a packed cooler. We did great! Today we listened to Lemony Snicket; A ...

... is and I did not make a list so clearly I am very unprepared. It will get done and if I miss anything I am sure I can buy it when I arrive in France but I am anxious that I will forget some form of paperwork that I urgently need or leave my passport which I can see myself doing! I also have an incomplete gift to Tyler that I need to finish before I leave so I have my work cut out for me.

Okay no more procrastinating... time to pack!

... believe that?! Imagine what some of the teachers at Clare Primary would do if they had to hand in their keys during summer holidays, there'd be a riot for sure, so don't go getting any ideas Anne! I had to make sure I'd taken home everything I might need to work on to plan for next year. Everything not bolted down gets moved out of the rooms and the custodians really clean and polish the floors. It won't take much setting up after I get back, and once I'd done all I could ...
