Faith NON-stop!

... today relate to faith? You didn't think you'd get away without hearing how I compare my life experiences with my theories about life.

Fort Frances was a stop I wanted to make just because I try as much as possible to not follow the same road twice. Might as well see as much, different, countryside as possible. If I ended up in Winnipeg anyway, some could argue that I took the "wrong" road and could have shaved a couple hours off my driving time by staying ...

Long day

It was a long day of driving. We left Regina in early morning and passed through more prairie land and wheat fields into Manitoba. We drove through fields of wheat, some harvested and some awaiting harvest. We saw a few fields of corn, sunflowers, potatoes and one large field of cabbages. We ...

Off we go! Next stop..Bayfield, WI

Thanks to everyone in Baudette for nice visits...the Wedding (with a capital W) was a BLAST! Thanks to mom and dad for their unwavering patience. We're just loading up Pearl and will grab some good coffee at the Moon....photo under the fish and off we go to Bayfield...ETA dinnertime.

Welcome in Ontario

Weiterfahrt Richtung Kenora.

Staying planted

Hi all...just a quick check-in to let you know we are here with my family for the week. Mara started schooling virtually today....yikes...I hope this gets easier. The girls are totally crabby now that we've stopped. I am looking forward to the wedding this weekend and then Sunday or Monday we hit the road for New York. I will try to post pictures of the trip thus far this week. Maybe I'll see you at the wedding? LOL.

... areas ravaged by forest fires and are completely desolate. Unlike Alberta's logging practices where they leave a buffer zone between the highway and the logging area, HERE, they slash everything up to the ditch and leave the unsightly mess behind. In Alberta, the branches are scattered throughout the logged-out area and mulched back into the soil. Here, they pile it all up and burn. When it rains, the dirt runs into the creeks/rivers turning them a muddy brown ...

Kenora

... is not as interesting as I thought. There is one here in Kenora as well, and they advertise Pizza, Burgers, and Chicken, so obviously this mysterious Chef does not specialize in Chicken only. It was closed, so I still hold out hope for a chef in a chicken suit. I had thought of another possibility on the drive today - that maybe the Chicken Chef was a creature a la the Chicken Lady on Kids in the Hall. Maybe ...

Kenora - Lake of the woods

... sinker was not great and needed improving. 4. Try not to bank on catching a meal, instead fish for the fun of it or to pass time and if you get a free meal from it that's a bonus! After that I settled for my canned stew and watched TV. The next day was my last in Kenora, which I had planned on going on a boat tour of the lake; however the bloody rain prevented me from doing that. Instead I had a quick look downtown and saw a few of the ...

My Journey Begins

... More importantly, I came to Calgary to say my goodbyes to my Grandpa, not knowing what the future may hold for him since he is in critical condition. My dad also tagged along with me as he too wanted to see his parents and of course to send me off.

MIGRANTS WHO SPECIALIZE IN THE RAKING OF PINE CON-

... Kenora town and its buildings were clean, glossy, flaw-less, and attractive. Kenora perched on brown Lake of the Woods, whose body throbbed out southward for seventy miles, encircling islands of all sizes overrun by cold-braving, hermitic forest. Kenora was a very well-off city, even by Canadian standards. Our hosts in town were one of many families from Manitoba and Saskatchewan who owned summer houses in Kenora. Kath Hill, who had studied with ...
