I pass through the urban area of Santa Fe briefly driving on an Interstate, eyes peeled for the friendly blue signs that say "lodging' and have the logos of the m'otels and the exit number to take. As I made my way through Clovis I stopped at a rest station to stretch and get a bite to eat. They had a really cool restaurant called Thai City and I ate the Golden Dragon for $10.95. After that I got gas at a Chevron for $41.66.

High on my bucket was (and I say was) Taos. Poor Tom drove about nine hours, some of them in a raging rain storm. Taos was a bust. We immediately headed for Santa Fe.
The ride, however to Taos was nothing short of spectacular. The landscapes were like paintings. We traveled through sage brush fields and majestic mountains. We miss so much of this beautiful country when we travel by plane.
