Punta del Este, Maldonado Department, Uruguay rayner... cruise pegs we have on the front of the bikes’ roll bars to give us another position for our feet. The Air Hawk inflatable seats we have, also help prevent botrot over long distances.

We settled in a dive of a Hotel which is usually rented by the hour! Unfortunately Des dropped his motorbike bringing it around the back of the Hotel as the ground was very marshy. He’s OK, no damage done, well, maybe a little bit to his pride.
Punta del Este, Maldonado Department, Uruguay jennykelly... release them). There are also men also walking up and down the beach selling beach paddle tennis sets and everyone seems to come to the beach with their paddle tennis sets! Then there are men walking up and down selling icecreams and also at the surf beaches there are boys playing soccer on the beach (although less than in Chile). * Again, oldschool cool: the port area, whilst having many hip restaurants and bars, has a jetty that a dozen fishermen have their ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay tillysouth... area, which was so nice. We thought we were on Wisteria Lane in Desperate housewives!!! Big mansions, clean front yards, beautiful flowers... We rented bikes to go to the beach, go to the supermarket and visit the city.
We cycled all around the city and the sea shore, stopped in the oldest part of town ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay leprefrog... to find out, not too bad for Uruguay. Bus from Colonia to Montevideo and onwards to Punta del Este was ... very efficient. Nearly missed our connection to Montevideo, due to misunderstaning amongst ourselves and were misinformed about immagration (Note you do not have to go through immigration again once you get to the other side, that is what the Argentina leaving stamp and Uruguay entry stamps were all about - early morning travel not our thing... so slow ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay selinam... I am. Here`s the deal with Piriapolis in case anyone cares. So all the wealthy families in BA and in Montevideo either go to Punta del Este (Uruguay) or Mel del Plata (Argentina) for the summer. All the upper middle income families go to or have summer houses in Piriapolis. Piriapolis is like the red headed step child to the other two aforementioned beach resort cities. Piriapolis is like Garfunkel to Simon, The other two knobs from 98 degrees to Nick ...
Piriapolis, Uruguay merkdog4... on a beach around 5km long!!! (which was great as it meant I could sing my heart out (when the guy from the hostel left) with my IPOD on!!!!). So starting to warm up and some how feel really contented at the moment. I just feel really lucky to have had such a wonderful experience in Antarctica and really look forward to catching up with good friends in Buenos Aires, Miami and Costa Rica!!!!
Punta del este, Uruguay sandramcnicol... hassle. While I'm griping, the napkins here are absolutely worthless. They are literally the thinnest pieces of paper I have ever seen. If it were any thinner it wouldn't exist. In fact, when going to wipe you hands on one of these tiny 4in x 4in pieces of paper they practically disappear. You need like 4 or 5 of them to do the job that you could do with 1 normal napkin. They have absolutely zero absorption either. They need a ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay chuckonearth... off from the sun. The next night, we decided not to pay for the hostel and opted to go out until 5am, then to catch the 630 bus to Montevideo so that we could return to BsAs. This time, I had to defend my prime position on the dance floor in front of the TV screen from elbowing, rude Uruguayan teenage couples. Did I mention that everyone in these clubs are 18 or younger, it seems? Completely ridiculous. I have no idea why this lifestyle is attractive, and I think the ...
Punta Del Este, Uruguay eadamsonWe are currently in Punta del Este, the famed summer playground for the young, rich and beautiful from Argentina, Brazil and Chile. (Think about a cross between Miami Beach and the Hamptons.) Kia and I would like to think of ourselves as young and beautiful (this is much easier for her) and by local standards we are fairly rich. We decided that we should see what this party town has to offer. When we did our reconnaissance, we were told that the beautiful people ...
