... fight, as I make my way to Cours Julien, the main pedestrian/ night life area.
I push through the crowded streets, and find a well lit area to sit and watch. Cours Julien is split down the middle by a modest smattering of green space, fountains, and children's playgrounds. Its already late, but a few children still play on the swings and slides. However, the playgrounds are mostly dominated by groping teenagers.
On either side, crowded restaurants, cafes and ...
... Argh! I tried to get him to go up into the town and explore, but I couldn’t drag him further than a few blocks - worry that we needed to be back in time…?!?!
Finally around 4, they opened the gate so we could drive in. Only to find the ticket office didn’t open until 6pm. While waiting, we talked with a lovely Frenchcouple who were completely unperturbed at our lack of language ...
... chair who fell on the cobblestone streets of Capri and fractured her tibia. Like i have said before, some of these people are trying to do things they shouldn't be doing. The movie tonight on MUTS is Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey...don't know if i can convince Bob to go but i think it sounds funny. Tomorrow the weather sounds great for Barcelona so hopefully we will have something more interesting to report. Ciao for now:)
Marseille, Provence, France sscaswellSo we left St Tropez to head towards Avignon. I wanted to drive along the coast and we found a little road to take us there.. Little alright! It was about 11 or 17km of narrow winding steep roads. The worst part was the cars we occasionally ran into coming the other way and the big drop on the other side!
But it was all worth it. We found all these beautiful little beaches. We stopped at one and ...
... myself to one a day for the sake of conscience. They’re the thin kind, too, so usually come folded like a paper airplane or even rolled up tortilla-style. Of course there are lots of Maghribian dishes in the Arab quarter- couscous etc., but that requires actually sitting down… ahem. Easier are the taboules and other salads available in the grocery stores. At least a steady diet of vitamins has finally ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... where Africa meets Europe, but indeed where Saharan Africa meets sub-Saharan Africa. If the Arab is the main foreign influence, still you’re as likely to encounter a black African in traditional dress here as you are in many parts of Africa, and that makes it pretty special, many varied peoples bound by the French language, and others by Islamic culture. All I need is some WiFi and you can count me in, for a week at least. (to be continued...)
... still be drinking German beer out of some plastic sippie cup.
I hope this guide helps anyone who wants to tackle Marseille. All of these methods worked time and time again for me. Trust me, France is worth the aggravation because it really is a pretty country with some awesome food. We are moving on to Malaga, Spain and Gibralter next via good ole Ryanair of course so I will update you with the latest and greatest from there later on.
... quiet and beautiful. As I turned the corner I spotted an open market. It looked like it was just for clothes and odds and ends. The first booth I went to was of clothing from Italy. I can report that this year, black is the new black. Everywhere I've gone, outfits in the window were either completely in layers of black or a bit of white. Great, anyone who knows me, knows that black and ...
Toulon, France oracle26... W**e Am**ican but we don't like George Bush." ******s!! I gave this dude 3 opportunities to exit the conv**sation with a simple "You shouldn't discuss religion and politics" saying. Nope this guy wanted to talk. I was v**y civil, and let him make all his points, but he would just dance when I would put pressure on him. He was 33 years old, just v**y misinformed. Toulon, France jaredten... found something that would suffice and decided to head down to Nice's beach. The biggest disappointment in Nice, while far less glamorous than its neighbour Cannes, is probably the beach. While there is lots of it, the beach is covered in large, smooth pebbles which are incredible hard to walk on let alone sit comfortably. The silver lining on this seemingly dark cloud is that the water here is incredibly blue and clear, so if you can forget about the rocks, you might be able to enjoy yourself!
