... the edge of the marsh at a location that Julie and I had seen oe years previously and then Ian found first one, then two, then three Hen Harriers (all females or juveniles) further out across the marsh. We wayched them for a while through our 'scopes until the unforgiving wind got the better of us and we decided to call it a day.
We went for an early dinner at Salthouse and then headed to the Edinburgh in Wells for a few pints before turning in for an early night.

Bloomin' Egyptian Geese
... for a spot of sea-watching. There wasn't much more than a handful of Red-throated Divers and a couple of distant gannets going by.
On the drive down, though, I had seen my 200th bird species for the UK for 2012 - Egyptian Geese - one of the most 'plastic' of British birds, being descended from escaped stock from exotic bird collections. A vagrant would have been more satisfying.
