... to ourselves, with table, and a massive window - so so worth it!! The views were AMAZING!! We left Bergen in reasonable weather conditions, and as the train gained altitude, it got noticeably colder outside as we started to notice snow. By the time we got to 1200 metres +, there was about a foot of snow - and this is just October! It was beautiful up there!! The train luckily stopped quite a few times, and ...

... More sailboats for Steve to drool over and scenery to ogle at. Once we got past the fjords we were in the wide North Sea and the boat started rocking. Audrey learned what a bit of seasickness felt like, but also learned that if you go out into the fresh air that makes you feel much better. The rocking helped us all get a good night's sleep for our arrival at small port town of Hirshtals the next morning at 8:30 am.

We are in Voss!! Yes, this is the place where all the Hollywood celebrities get their water...or so I hear. (http://vosswater.com) Well...I can say that I had Voss water too!! And it was free!! From the tap...that is how we have been staying hydrated. The tap water in Scandinavia is very clean and crisp. We are staying at the Voss Hostel....and let me tell you ...it brought back ...
Voss, Western Fjords, Norway bubbajamchinSo, for my birthday we decided to take a 20 km mountain bike ride down through the mountain of Flam. It was the best birthday present that I could have given to myself. The day started off at around 6am when we caught the train to Voss and then evertually over to Myrdal. Unfortunatly, there was a power outage on the tracks ahead so we were stuck in Voss. We then caught a bus from Voss to Flam. Once we arrived in Flam ...
Flam, Norway beautiful_freakOur first day in Norway began under grey and rainy skies. We had a great breakfast. Both here and in Denmark they serve breakfast as it ought to be. Yes, they have eggs, but they also serve cheeses, cold meats, hearty breads, fresh fruits, and an abundant spread of other items, all included in the price of the motel room. It makes us wonder how US motels can get away with calling their skimpy spread of sweet muffins and donuts a Continental Breakfast. A swift and reasonable ...
Voss, Norway leeandal... there for a few hours with the crowd. With all the nice weather I just kept hoping it would stay sunny for when I went to the fjords. The day I headed north the clouds and rain set in. I took a train north to Andalsnes. (I originally was going to go to Otta and take a couple buses to Boverdalen, near a nat'l park, but decided waiting around for buses and transfering isn't any fun. The next day would've been spent taking 3 buses not very far in ...
