Today we had an off day. We were supposed to work 7-10:30, but another couple who didn't have a job relieved us for our shift. It was really nice of them, but we also messed up. FMCA is serving breakfast each morning. We had decided last night that we would get up early and go into breakfast, so I set the alarm for 5:30. The alarm went off and we stayed in bed for a while. ... After the tour we looked at the space artefacts and watched a few movies/documentaries. There isn't as much to see and do at the center compared to Kennedy so we left at about 3pm a little disappointed (spoiled perhaps at going to Kennedy first). For dinner we got some Chinese food and called it a night. The Chinese good wasn't that good - Sam had Mongolian Chicken (lots of onion) and I had sweet and sour pork (too sweet, or not enough sour ...
... left. Made for a rough start to the next day of course but expected if you know me at all....
So ends the first day and a few things are known: we're not in shape for this, we don't have the patience we use to have for the ups and downs but most of all, we wouldn't change any of it no matter what the price.....life is just better for us on the bike and on the road.....

Pat especially enjoyed a whole section on 1960s crafts, and on modern US art, while Bill enjoyed a special display of "iconic 20th C photography", and a very large expressionists section. Back at the hotel by 3 to rest our feet, and soon off to a walk downtown. We caught a free downtown bus to the far side of the downtown and made our way back by foot. ... rivers, greenery and people and places along the exits. Our evening however was the best part of the day. We had dinner with a cousin and a friend who live in Houston. We shared a glass of wine in her lovely home and on to dinner at a typical Texas steak place. We have been waiting to adopt a replacement puppy until after our trip.
