          Just another day

Today we had an off day. We were supposed to work 7-10:30, but another couple who didn't have a job relieved us for our shift. It was really nice of them, but we also messed up. FMCA is serving breakfast each morning. We had decided last night that we would get up early and go into breakfast, so I set the alarm for 5:30. The alarm went off and we stayed in bed for a while. About 6 I got up and asked Bob if he wanted to ...

Houston, we're not Kennedy Space Center

A travel blog entry by jason934 on Oct 05, 2015

... After the tour we looked at the space artefacts and watched a few movies/documentaries. There isn't as much to see and do at the center compared to Kennedy so we left at about 3pm a little disappointed (spoiled perhaps at going to Kennedy first). For dinner we got some Chinese food and called it a night. So ends the first day and a few things are known: we're not in shape for this, we don't have the patience we use to have for the ups and downs but most of all, we wouldn't change any of it no matter what the is just better for us on the bike and on the road.....

... exhaustion. Pat especially enjoyed a whole section on 1960s crafts, and on modern US art, while Bill enjoyed a special display of "iconic 20th C photography", and a very large expressionists section. Back at the hotel by 3 to rest our feet, and soon off to a walk downtown. We caught a free downtown bus to the far side of the downtown and made our way back by foot. Houston has a few large and impressive buildings, not least the huge Bank ...

... rivers, greenery and people and places along the exits. Our evening however was the best part of the day. We had dinner with a cousin and a friend who live in Houston. We shared a glass of wine in her lovely home and on to dinner at a typical Texas steak place. We have been waiting to adopt a replacement puppy until after our trip. Now that we are at the tail end (pardon the pun) we ...
