Quick stop for salads at Wendy's in Craig. About the only thing we found interesting in Craig was the town's name.

Leaving town I found that one of the bolts holding the Indian's windshield to the bracket had fallen out. Pulling a quick "McGyver", I cut a section from my long boot laces and tied the windshield to the bracket so as to not lose any pieces.

We drove through a national forest for the first hour or so and it was beautiful scenery. Then we came out of the mountains and it was just a desolate scene for miles and miles. If you decided to overnight in Maybell, you could find a room at the Victory Hotel, the Red Rose Motel, or a nearby guest ranch. You could camp in the town park where you'd pay $15 to $20 a night for a site and $3 for a shower. There is an honor system. No one checks ...

... it was snowing in places & raining ice , not sleet. We started the day in shorts & t-shirts but soon had to change. The first pass was Cameron Pass at 10,276ft & the next one was Rabbit Ears Pass at 9,429ft. We had a day where it rained off & on for most of the day but it wasn't heavy, just nuisance rain & we were only driving anyway. Eventually we crossed the state line in to Utah. The road down towards Moab followed the Colorado ...
