Patrick wants to go to see the speedway today and although Lyndsey and I have no objection to seeing the speedway we do object to getting up and so we opt for lounging in bed while Patrick goes to take the tour. I said I would go if I could drive the cars but apparently not so I will stay in the hotel and leisurely start my day.
It's hard to believe that we started with frost on the car this morning. Of course the sun was burning it off pretty quickly but we encountered our first below freezing temperatures for a while. So, the plan was to get up at 6 and get ready to ride at 7 because the Weather Network indicated that it was going to be fair in the morning, and not rain until 1:00. By the time we got our gear ready to put on the bike, it started to pour. We ended up not leaving until 11:00 because it is too painful to pack up the bike in the cold rain. In the morning Livvy and I swam in a little hot tub surrounded by fake palms trees. Then got in the car and drove through Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. I looked up in the car at one point and saw that we were in Nevada, Iowa. Then we kept driving and hit Brooklyn, Iowa. 3,000 miles in one state! This hotel is fine but there is no elevator and so you have to drag your suitcases up if you are on the second floor.
