... nice, because the building itself is sparsely used on the weekend. Having the place pretty much to ourselves allowed the kids to focus on the displays a little better. There was a great deal more traffic in the library, which could be distracting.

There was a great variety of nativity scenes: from different countries, made from different materials, and different, imaginative scenes envisioning ...

Even though we were not participating in a birthday party, my kids got a little hungry after having been there for a couple of hours. They do not allow eating and drinking in the museum, but a docent was very nice to let us have a snack at the coloring table. Next time, though, I will be prepared ...

... was an area that was obviously where the tourists went to take buggy rides and browse the shops. It reminded me of Montville on a weekend but in American Amish country. It was interesting to see the horses and buggies going along the road shoulder and cars on the road. We saw so many horses and buggies in a small area in such a short period of time and it was not put on for the tourists. That was just how I wanted to see their community.

... seemed to be flowing more freely our way (east) than the other way. We saw it crawling along and almost stationary at times.

From Chicago we headed north on route 94 towards Michigan City where we turned onto the 20 to South Bend. Quite a lot of road works along the route from near Starved Rock.

Arrived at Madge's house at South bend around what we thought was 5 pm but we had crossed back into Eastern ...
