Martine drove us through the Pyrenées into Spain, this morning. We explored San Sebastián and then had tapas for lunch. It was fun to try out our Spanish. We found a great ice cream shop and also bought some souvenirs. From there, we went back into France and spent some time in Saint Jean de Luz. This town is famous because it is here that Louis XIV married Eugenie of Spain, forming the Peace Treaty of the Pyrenées. Lastly, we went to ...

Tomorrow I will go and splash in the ...

... This old town is probably the nicest one we've been to.
Not far from Ainsa is the Ordesay Monte Perido National Park that stretches to the French border. It has a number of rivers that radiate from its peaks. These have incised through the soft rock forming spectacular canyons. We travelled for about 15km up the most beautiful canyon on the Rio Bellos. So narrow was the road that it's one-way only. The return trip is along a ridge that overlooks the valley on the ...

Water - holy at Lourdes and in the Atlantic

A travel blog entry by clakiwi on Jul 20, 2012

Headed off to Lourdes this ,morning and saw all the sights at that place: grotto where apparition appeared, the old and new basilica, able to fill up bottles with water if want, and lots of shops with souveneirs or supplies that pilgrims might need. Much busier than Fatima with many sick and elderly being wheeled around in wheelchair ...
