    Como - Day 2

A travel blog entry by scottandmel on Jan 07, 2014

This morning we had a buffet breakfast at our hotel which was included with our room and then walked to the lake and enjoyed spending some time at the lakeside. We caught a train/cable car thing up the hill by Como to a little village called Brunate. We explored the village and then spent some time hiking through the woods around there. It was very …

That sort of sums up Varenna. Other places on Lake Como shout out "hey – George Clooney lives here" or “This spot was used in a James Bond movie” but Varenna just sits quietly and ...

We had decided to take the Ferry up to another village on the lakeside, but actually arrived at the Quay in time for an earlier ferry. So we ended up catching the 9:10 ferry to Urio. As we climbed on board, the rain started, and as we cast off, that rain changed to horizontal, so we abandoned to top deck to go downstairs.

Luckily when we reached Urio the rain let up for a while. The only cafe near the dockside turned out to be a restaurant, despite having "cafe" written ...
