Paris to Brussels

... the name of it! Jason rounded us up for bed when he went for a shower and found two 50 year old Macedonian men in our dorm room who seemed creepy. He suggested I take my clothes to the shower to get changed. I waited for them to snore before I fell asleep as I didn't trust them- not sure what I thought they would do but just didn't like them. Jason said I woke up and screamed 3 times in my sleep too so think I must have been worried ...

... Marc pointed out we should walk to Grand Place, so we did!

We started walking in the wrong direction and the area we were walking in was extremely run down and dirty. But after a couple of mins once we were orientated, we made our way in the general direction to Grand Place. There were not many people around until I spotted a tour group and knew we must be approaching touristy areas! And alas, we found ourselves at the famous statue ...

We decided to do our own walking tour of Ghent, we walked along the canals, had Belgium fries, saw so many old beautiful houses, St Michael's bridge, cathedrals, churches, the belfry and a castle. ... t lived up to any of my expectations but at least I'd gotten it out of the way. That night I got together with Samuel Devyver, Michael's brother. We went to a happening area of the city and had some wine with some of his friends and their friends. From there we hung out at his place and talked about life. He may end up joining me in Rome and Athens, which would be super cool! He got me a taxi home (he paid for everything that night) and we said our see-you-laters. ...

Exploring Brussels

... French food.

The Grand Place (where the city hall is) was decorated with beautiful gold. I was so impressed! There was an amazing festive atmosphere there. We also realised that TinTin was created by a guy from Brussels, because they were posters everywhere. It’s annoying that you often have to pay to use the toilet in Europe, but I had a very pleasant experience in the city centre – a bathroom with crazy lights and aquariums!
