... and handbag, find the last items that I hadn't packed yet, put most of it in the car and put some more songs on my I-pod. Which takes a lot more time than I had anticipated but at least it's done.
The next update you can expect when I have arrived, as I am now going to spend the rest of my evening with my parents and siblings.

First entry. How very exciting! I just
boarded the train in Holland and it took me about 20 minutes to get bored. I
love my seat though. It’s a small room with 6 chairs, blankets, curtains,
mirrors; the whole thing. Unfortunately the conductor told me that I’ll be
sharing it with someone in about 2 hours for the remainder of the journey.

... the Venice of Holland" as the houses and business are amongst canals in the most prettiest of settings. It is a gorgeous place and so peaceful. Not so sure it would be so in the height of summer. Willem hired a boat for us and we went through the canals and on to the lake. After a walk and ice cream, we started our drive to Amsterdam. We dropped off the bikes and headed back home and as we were driving up the street, Birgite was squeezing past a woman parked badly and caught the tyre on the side of the road. By the time we got home, the tyre was hissing and going down fast. So annoying but both Birgite and Willem were remarkably calm. Something to learn from them in that department, that's for sure. ... house frontages that we so enjoy in this city. It was time for our tour in the newly reopened Rijks Museum. We were on the 17th century tour as the highlights tour was booked out. Thank goodness! What a fabulous tour and we got to really see all the paintings with a deeper understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a new perspective on the works of these most talented Dutch Artists. Back to the car and waved goodbye to Hylke we headed to De Wyk. On arrival ...
