Convenience and good service - just too hot.

This hotel is so convenient to the train station, you won't need a taxi - the station entrance is on the other side of the road on the corner. And yet for such a busy area, the hotel was wonderfully quiet at night. Wonderful, friendly staff. Clean but basic accommodation. Modern, updated bathrooms. Only issue is the central heating is turned up too high. I had to sleep with the window open, even though the nights were below zero. This was a common occurrence everywhere in Europe.

Arrived on Monday morning the hotel was quite warm as it was a beautiful day. They were renovating the rooms but I think I got one that hadn't been done yet. Very clean and well presented if a little tired.

... a fondue made of two cheeses and with bread and potatoes for dipping. It was good!
After that, we set out to find a water taxi. That was a fruitless journey. After adding a few thousand steps to our total for the day, we opted to take a streetcar back to the area nearer to our hotel. It was time for some rest, laundry, and sleep. Tomorrow we venture up into the Alps to a town called Chemanix and then higher up from there.

... airport via the train. So easy and handy. And, as today is hot, hot, hot, I'm appreciating the AC. The weather this summer in Geneva has been amazing and the 35+ temperatures should be good prep for what's to come! Sad to leave home (and Craig). When I get back, summer will be ...

... point anyway. The train went up an extremely steep incline at about 45deg angle up inside the mountain. When you got on to the train you had to walk up steps and go into the little carriage on that step. Then the train went straight up and when you got off you moved out to the steps and up to the exit. Amazing Swiss engineering. Then we hopped onto another small cable car which took us to a glacier lake and picnic ground. The kids had a swim, laid on the ...

... s silly it's not like the states have exactly everything Canada does. So I was surprised what she said she missed of England. Self rising flour. Obviously she found ways around it but we both agreed it was a definite mental change. It got me thinking. I think I use really used all purpose flour but we have self rising. She said you have to put in an agent to make it raise. That's like baking power or baking soda? Oh man so much to learn about making.

This morning we were meeting a friend at a park. I was looking forward to this meeting not only to catch up with a friend but because we were meeting her in a park near her place. It wasn't our regular park therefore I was looking for the variety. Something different for Riley.

We were ready to go early so I decided to do one quick errand. We have a tense pressure shower rod and having been having problems with it so we decided to buy another and try it. See if that would solve ...
