        ... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.

        E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

        ... down lots of steps and loving the funicular, in fact loving the public transport in Lyon, so easy. We got a ¢5 all day ticket, which allowed us to use the metro, buses, funicular and trams, all easy and very regular.         ... got to see another very famous Lyon cathedral, Notre Dame de Fourvière. I was truly amazed by this was unlike any cathedral I had ever seen before--including England and Scotland. The ceilings were so high up, and they were intricately decorated and painted with superbly bright colors and gold.
