Then back on the road and after almost knocking a cyclist down we crossed back into the Netherlands, and immediately noticed how well kept everything seemed to be, the roads, the houses, the farms. The floral displays in all the cities, towns and villages have been beautiful. They obviously don't suffer from windy weather as the bhanging baskets everywhere have been stunning.
Many of the front gardens in Belgium and Holland are quite small, formal and structured. The one plant that wins the popularity stakes for garden plants is the hydrangea, especially large white ones. They obviously do really well.
