... our full fare. I guess I'll just have to return sometime.

The day finished with a three hour train ride back to Anchorage - I finally saw some moose, but it was not light enough to get pictures.

Tomorrow I am back on the train for the trip to Denali and then a flight to a glacier...let's hope the weather cooperates better than it did today.
Seward, Alaska, United States pmbell64... down with cliffs, scree fields and waterfalls. Folklore says the race came about when 2 men argued whether you could get to the top and back down within an hour with the loser buying drinks for the crowd. The optomistic guy lost out as it took 1 hour and 2 minutes! A guy completed it this year in 48 minutes.

After a brief search for boots we headed for the Kenai Fjords office (which was directly opposite our hotel). All ...
Seward, Alaska, United States usa2009aswm... we saw many fishing boats trying to catch the silver salmon as they entered Resurrection Bay.

Next we saw a humpback whale. We watched him make a couple of dives. We cruised past the Chiswell Islands into Aialik Bay. Soon it was mealtime – the food was excellent: salmon, prime rib, rice pilaf, salad with mandarin oranges, and drinks. We both ate far more than we should have – the diet will begin again tomorrow. In no time we were ...
Seward, Alaska, United States 2jgstl... differences between US and the East. They've been to Japan, so felt in awe about Japanese education. She thought few Americans care about education, pushing children for achievement. Interesting. I disagreed with her, but there's got to be a balance. A happy and a little stressed childhood that benefits their future life.
Seward, Alaska, United States mrduby... and a humpback breaching several times and also pec slaps (or slapping of the pectoral fin). That was amazing - so much activity all at once for a humpback and we got some great photos and video.

We arrived at our destination and felt like we had already had a full excursion! Off went the kayaks and us and here we were - in the bay with the bergy bits and the glacier in the distance. We were given our skirts and PFD's (Personal ...
Seward, Alaska, United States ljandbev... The really annoying thing for me is that I protested we book our transfer to Anchorage on the ship. Kim was against it as the price was $20 dollars more than the internet suggested. Seriously I remember that Jenni screwed me over like that in Calgary for some extra money which in the long run is money well spent. Oh well there is no point in dwelling on it. Tomorrow I fly to Seattle and am so happy to be parting company will the girls... tomorrow will be a much better day. Peace xxx.
Seward, Alaska, United States nadinesreprieve... and the amazing Portage Glacier. Along
the way, we pass the town of Moose Pass, a small quaint village with a
big crystal lake with small water planes stationed on it (I guess for
modes of transportation), the water is so clear that you can see the
reflection of the trees and mountains.

After a 4.5 hour journey, we arrived in Seward, a small coastal town,
the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Our first visit was to ...
Seward, Alaska, United States gnatalia... too tired to see anymore wildlife. We go sea kayaking tomorrow. Leave around 5:30 am. I'm not much looking forward to the hour but the trip should be fun. Hopefully we'll get a couple of naps in today and an early bedtime tonight so we can feel good and less jet lagged. The food on the flight was fabulous (first class) chicken ravioli, salad, roll and chocolate cake. Scott and I both ate ...
Seward, Alaska, United States bethnicholson... already seeing wildlife up close, we headed onward passing by the creatures I later found out is an extremely rare opportunity to see up close. ****. I went the entire trip without seeing another anywhere within 300 yards. Lesson learned - never pass by a rare photo opportunity. The highway changes driection from east to south at the eastern end of the Turnagain Arm where, almost right across the street from each other, there's a ...
Seward, Alaska, United States cavaroc... sleeping in sounded like a great idea that morning so we slept in. Later we got coffee and spent the day wandering around Seward, checking out beaches and some junkyards to find souvenirs for Anita's dad that has a small in home car model museum back in Holland. We found some Chevy signs and a couple of license plates he can hang up. That evening we grabbed dinner and retired to our room to relax.
