... d met in Mississippi at our campground in Columbus, stopped by for a visit. They were returning home to Ft Worth after purchasing two Rail Road cars from an estate in Sacramento.
What a unique sight. They're the rail cars that railroad repairmen used to ride on the rails to do any needed repairs. Apparently, there are quite a few clubs of enthusiasts who get together and travel on seldom used tracks, mainly in Idaho, Montana and Oregon. How neat.
We did it!!!!!
We made it to downtown Yuma by 7 a.m. this morning to view the Balloon Ascensions that started at 7:15 a.m. It was something to see. We were able to walk around on the field among the participants. It was chilly there this morning, but warm again this afternoon.
... the day before yesterday that we saw the whole schedule. We hope that we can view them from our campsite that is 7 miles out of town.
The weather here is warm, in the high 70"s today. It is very dry here, that works good on Bonnie's sinus', but, we are getting static shocks all the time.
It was a rather tricky drive getting outside of Prescott, Az. That's a road we'll never take again in our motorhome. The road isn't something I'd recommend even if driving a car. Craig earned his stripes that day. Drove thru Quartzite; it looks the same as usual ...
Yuma, Arizona, United States rgvtxchrs... the pond-raised catfish fillet with mixed greens, black-eyed peas and sweet tea. The mixed greens were fresh and particularly tasty.
The drive from Phoenix to Yuma via I-10 East and I-8 West was fairly short and pretty uneventful, punctuated as it was by Marty Robbins cowboy ballads and three back-to-back episodes of the Shadow: Radio’s Greatest Man of Mystery.
Visiting historic downtown Yuma had a slightly “back in time ...
... More flowers, fruit, bright colored paper, and candles are added for decorative purposes. Like much of Mexican traditions, El Día de los Muertos is a mixture of European and pre-Hispanic customs, mainly All Saints Day and indigenous homage to the Gods. In urban regions the altar is usually decorated with skulls made of sugar. In agriculturally based regions cornhusks and banana leafs ...
Anywhere, Virginia, Mexico jackies-world... it as all legal. When I got to the border crossing the customs guy laughed at my predicament and wished me good luck as he waved me on. So here I am, back in the USA and re-entering Mexico, but much smarter than I was one hour earlier. As soon as I crossed the border I went to the" secondary inspection" area and they told me to go to the first office on the right. That office told me to go to the first exit, keep to the right, and pass the McDonalds, then turn left to the ...
San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico jstephensca... place in Yuma to find out about the brake problem. It took them all day (from 8am to 5pm) to isolate the problem in the complicated wiring, then fix it, but they didn't charge as much as some others might have charged....most places charge $85-$100 per hour, they charged $500 total. This was the last entry for Our Mexican Odyssey. I'll soon be starting a new chapter of our travels over the warm weather months of 2008.
Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico aryeh71... in order to hit the duty free and get our Travel Cards. Well duty free was not a problem, however it was there that we were informed to get our travel cards on the other side of the border....what?! This went against everything we had read, but that was the only answer anyone would give us, so off to the border we went. We had also read that once we get to the border there will be a traffic signal to watch out for. If the light is green, you simply drive on and if ...
