    A relaxing day at sea

Very pleased today to be at sea. It's been non stop for us for over two weeks now - so really nice to just chill and do nothing much. Which is exactly what we did. Late breakfast, swim in the adults pool at the far end of the boat. The seawater was smooth, calm and glassy and we passed the volcanic island of Stromboli which was steaming away nicely. Looked very ethereal with all the sea mist and the glassy water. Then we sailed ...

... we are in a different place from the rest of the day and well past Crotone. Checking the map no place to go for 100 miles but small port called La Castella so in we head. A very wet ride with reefed sails but we head in and just manage to get through harbour entrance with zero on the depth gauge despite there supposed to be 3 meters of water. All good the salty sea dogs settle in for the night and check the weather forecast - ...

Sept. 3: Crotone (weather delay, day#2)

... one seems to care about one way or another about this pathetic town... such a shame.... Anyhow..., that was my impression yesterday.... Maybe today will be different. We will go up and behind the castle walls... This is where the heart of the city must be. Off we trot, excited for what the prospects of shopping could be. As we were walking down the Lunga Mare, there were even more people than yesterday, which has equated into more trash, and dirt along the ...

... We are definitely snuggled in for the day and night, with plenty of power and water. Lunch on deck seemed extra special being cradled in, while the weather was playing sporadic havoc along the coast South of us. Milena became a "must see" for all the sailers in the area. Walking back and forth, from bow to stern, "oooooooing and ahhhhhhing" was a little disturbing as we are trying to eat lunch..... Oh well. Millie always becomes the talk of any harbor she is in. The latter ...

Sept. 1: Santa Maria de Leuca to Crotone, Italy

... Whew... We had come to rest for the day... All of us, and Millie coated with salt, and carrying a broken tranquette. We got here just before the "thunderstorms " prediction of weather in this area. Evidently between here and the straits if Messina, there is a huge depression. Electrical storms and wind. We made it to safely to harbor , even tho we were anchored outside of it. Aside: The body of water we were crossing was the Gulf of Taranto (the wide space between the heel of ...
