Via Ponte Calvi 5 Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy
As the traffic had been horrendous yesterday we decided to hit the autostrada and pay the tolls to save our sanity and hightail it to our next destination. 130kms and 10 Euro later we arrived in Santa Margherita Ligure, which is just up the road from Portofino.

This place is a bit larger than we are used to and Italian towns all have small car parks and narrow ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy darrenhough74Sadie and I left beatiful peaceful Florence to mean unhelpful Genoa. We have been so spoiled in our travels up till this point. We usually have a bit of train trouble but nothing that can't be fixed or solved within an hour. Well landing in Genoa was not the case. The train ride up the coast was breath taking, I wanted so badly to jump off the train and stay a few days in one of the coastal towns. I think for my next trip to Europe its a must. The houses are so ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy konaduyThis morning we woke up to get ready to go on the Historic Center walking tour of Genoa. We had a nice breakfast at the buffet and I even found a decaf cappa for breakfast too. We met in the lounge at 8:45 and got on a little boat in the harbor and had a tour of the harbor and then got off at the aquarium and started our tour. Genoa is very nice and the historic section dates back ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mamafeathersDestination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

Borghetto di Borbera, Piedmont, Italy martinasfamily... so forth. Upon our maiden voyage out of Munchen to Luzern (Lucerne) we quickly noticed that the city streets are shared between many forms of transportation. There are trucks, cars, scooters, bicycles, and pedestrians, along with golf carts and 4-wheelers. Anything goes. You can license anything that moves. All of this movement is sharing the road with large fast electric trains running down the center of the street. Much like our light rail ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy travellingjon... Capital of Culture a few years back, so they've polished up the waterfront and made a trendy new shopping area around the old port. But the spiderweb-like streets of the centro storico have largely been left untouched, and they're the real pleasure to explore. Parts of the city can seem a little threatening, likely moreso at night. But that's the way of ports, and in any case it's hardly a dangerous place - certainly it has ...
Genoa, Italy xerius... to do with pizza. And no we dont get French benefits. Italy has been a great experience from me and made me realize that I should put some time into learning Italian. I take my Spanish to be fairly solid and both being romance languages, I have been surprised with how much Italian I can understand and have learned even with spending 90% of my time with english speaking people. The landscapes and culture are amazing and the food is amazing. Lets be honest, almost anyone not ...
Cinque Terre, Italy jtpharr... hallways at night. No sooner had we arrived on the second floor's landing than Mike said, "My spidey sense is tingling, I'm petrified with fear". It was a very random comment, and a whole bunch of us starting giggling. Suddenly, an old woman flung open a door that was down the hall, and started screaming at us in Italian. Sometimes when I listen to someone speak to me in a foreign language I can empathize closely with a dog. I ...
