Small room, but value for money in this good location. It's awkward being on different floors of a multi-use building, but ultimately manageable

After a good sleep we would explore Vienna....and all its splendour!

We had breakfast early and planned our day. Vienna is very easy to get around. It has tram, bus and underground train system all located near our hotel. The weather threatened rain but didn't, it was cold though. maximum 4 degrees predicted and cloudy.

... tasty especially when served with potato salad and the goulash proved good. Best of all were the cakes served in the wonderful cafes we visited; it’s a wonder that the Viennese are not all hugely over-weight with the goodies that are on offer. The cafes themselves were a travel destination in their own right, from the opulence of Café Central to the backstreet charm of Café Goldegg and the piano renditions at Café Diglas which included a surprisingly good ...

... of Austro-German. We're finally met by Ryan, a psychology major and friend of Lisa's who helps us find his place. Things take a turn for the better when we get some spicy pizza (appropriately called the inferno) but our new hosts can hardly speak English and our German is worse than terrible. Despite Ryan's hospitality (and we couldn't be more thankful and grateful) both Paul and I spend the night feeling a little homesick. Back in Cape Town there is an atmosphere of ...

We headed onto Vienna on Thursday which was a 5 hr train trip and a great way to travel. Our hotels so far have been average so it was good to arrive to a much nicer hotel and upgrade to a suite. We headed out on foot to explore for the afternoon. Vienna is really gorgeous, it has a vast array of stunning buildings and style and sophistication that was lacking in Prague. You can still feel the hang over from the communist days in Prague, whilst Vienna is that much ...
