I let the tent dry out a little after we got up. The kids had a go at archery, using one bow and six arrows. The manager supervised them for about 20 minutes, before he got bored. I could sense his growing realisation, that the arrow arcing into the ground six feet away, was likely to be the best shot of the day.
We headed for Pärnu, a pretty seaside town, ten minutes away. Nick scared the wits out of a Polish lorry driver by trying to turn the wrong way up a ...
Jöekääru Adventure Camp is not quite what it seems. Its advertising boasts of corporate facilities, an adventure park, archery, kayaking, paint-balling and a climbing wall. In reality, it is a quiet but pleasant campsite with a play area for the children. It is probably more suited to us, than the all singing, all dancing campsite it pretends to be.
To be fair, it does have at least one of each of the items it claims to have, but they are not exactly in mint ...
As we were so excited the night before, all this packing, getting to know each other (as we didn't have all the time in the world for that), few glasses of wine ... We woke up at 12pm the next day. Although we were a little disappointed that we didn't have an early start we felt fresh from the long sleep and happy that we both shared the same sleeping pattern. (as long as we can!) We made ...
Viljandi, passed through Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia anniloo... but the bike was still there next day at 15 o'clock. I guess they'll pick it up at Monday.
The hotel was nice and our room was very spacious and had a balcony as an extra. We stayed at the spa level and the spa was 20 meters away, so as soon as I was done with CityBike we put bathrobes on, walked to the spa and soaked in jacuzzi for pretty long time. It felt pretty good after 280km of cycling, and especially after cycling in the rain.
The spa itself was small ...
My original plan for the Baltics had envisaged roughly the same time in all three Baltic states, not counting first days in Visaginas. But the deal with Jonas Vilimas in Vilnius and Ruta's undefined plans eventually disrupted all that, so at the end of the day I visited some places I was not going to, and had to skip some I had counted on. One of the casualties was Pärnu, arguably the most popular Estonian town this ...
Parnu, Estonia the_wayfarerThis blog is now finished. I will stay in Estonia for a couple of days, celebrate the weekend in Riga, and fly to Singapore on Monday. I will be living & working in Singapore for about 1-1,5 years (well, that's at least the plan), traveling around the neighboring countries. If and when I manage to create a blog about my trips around there, it will most probably reside in blogspot.com. Life goes on. Enjoy every moment.

Parnu, Estonia eix... We had a table at a neighbouring restaurant, so had a nice bottle of rose while we listened to the concert. It was a popular classics concert containing such favourites as Beethoven's 5th, William Tell Overture, Peer Gynnt Suite and Ravel's Bolero to name a few. We really enjoyed it. We have now returned to the hotel. Tomorrow we venture into Russia and from our guide's warnings are not sure what communication we will have. I will post what I can, when I can.
Talinn, Estonia mrsmac... float by until the sun goes down (see the pics they are the only ones we have taken while we have been here due to the weather being sooo good). Off to Latvia's version of Parnu tomorrow - 4 hours south hoping to chase a little sun surely not asking too much in the middle of July???? Hope all is well and we are not being missed too much!
Parnu, Estonia no1pablo... today. Mary Moment #24: Mary told me that the highlight of Parnu so far has been "being in the room with you." Wow - thanks! Quite a compliment for a guy! After relaxing on the beach for a bit, we went off to the Museum of New Art. On the way, we passed by a spa offering mud baths. You can pay extra for a medical exam. Hmmm ... it doesn't sound too safe ... perhaps the mud is radioactive from Soviet nuclear ...
