Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland kupryjaniukWe started heading back down the coast through Finland. The scenery was very different to that in Norway and was much flatter. There really wasn't much up in this area just lots of trees around. In the afternoon we reached Rovaniemi which is the home of Santa and is also is where we crossed the Arctic Circle line again. I was looking forward to the home of ...
Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland alanna.holloway... on opiskeltu ahkerasti, sillä ko.
Rovaniemi, Finland amatsinrake... bus. Do expect Santa Village to be a disappointment, mostly souvenirs shops, Santa's post office and an expensive photo shoot with Santa. Although you can stand over the Arctic Circle, walk through the Christmas museum or take a short stroll to Santa Claus Forest through the pine trees, bogs, mushrooms and the berry of Lapland ...
Rovaniemi, Finland sd0744... into for coffee, and... You feel you are tired of all the music on your laptop, so instead you put your entire collection on random, and suddenly every song that plays is exactly what you wanted to hear but didn't realize. Or... Getting up in the morning is getting harder and harder as the hours of daylight get shorter, and one morning an early class has forced you out of bed in what was truly a feat of ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... about the Reindeer, Sami people, and Lapland in general. We then went back to Santa's village as the light was fading (not really sun set because we were yet to see the sun through the clouds.) We caught the bus back into town. Megan had seen an add for a Buffet place in town that offered all you could eat for a very cheap price, so we went for dinner. The selection wasn't huge, but the food tasted good enough.
Rovaniemi, Finland bigbenn... for the past couple of years across Canada were extremely rare anomalies rather than par for the course. I am only 26, and have much of my life still ahead of me, yet I am seriously worried what life will be like in 2025 due to the effects of climate change in Canada, when I will only be 45. I cannot even express how afraid I am for the children that I so want to have... I love this country, its wilderness, its culture, so much - what kind of ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... in a many-voiced debate about almost any topic I can think of... and now a few minutes later, I sit here, in my own way adding to that debate. Pretty wild for a girl who could already drive a car by the time she first surfed the net. Somehow it's almost time for me to get ready for our housewarming party tonight. And I guess that's another day that has slipped by without me getting any "school work" done. But then, that is just a matter of perspective. copyright lisa cockburn 2006
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... the winter drive across the ice, no bridge for a few km's!) and hopping on a trail through gorgeous finnish forest, 8km to a beautiful little lake. incredible. it's been keeping me sane, and i am sad to see the season end (even though i am very excited for warm days!) (b) if you throw a sushi party, you are pretty much guaranteed to have the best sushi in town, and are REALLY popular with your friends :)
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... suit, as most were. this pole walker was a teenage girl wearing trendy clothes... but with poles. i was baffled. this morning, however, after a gorgeous 10cm of snow fell yesterday evening, and the efficient bike path snow plows had already made their rounds, i began to get a hint of why those poles might not be such a bad idea. the paths, with the layer of packed snow beneath what had been cleared, were absolutely deathly slippery. my life flashed before my eyes at ...
