... who live in Sdr. Felding. The Kristensen’s were wonderful and invited us to stay at their cottage in Skarrild only 10 min. away from them and close to Legoland. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with them and get to see how they go about daily life in Denmark. This is the little village that Stee's great-great grandfather lived in before he immigrated to the United States. Him and his parents departed from Copenhagen aboard an emigrant ship in the 1860’s set for New York's immigrant base, Castle Garden. He was only a young man during the voyage and his father died, age 46, while at sea. Him and his mother continued the voyage, and the trip to the American West without him.

What an incredibly different story the two men have had.

Today was a laid back day at sea where we rested the best we could, but we had to get up early. You see, today was the day the gift shop had their Russian bazaar. They had a number of different souvenirs available. So you can picture the sale, picture in you head Black Friday at Best Buy, but without the aid of a circular poured over with a belly full of turkey and pumpkin pie. That was how crazy the sale was.

One of our first field trips was to Nyborg. Hans founded a maritime academy some 30 years ago and he is now chairman of the board and he had to attend a quarterly meeting.
