This lovely hotel is just over the river from the old town. Rooms are clean, modern and air conditioned. We had a view of the town out our river but behind the hotel are the alps, just beautiful.

We traveled in Europe for 3 months and this was the only hotel that we stayed in that showed a picture on their website of the room that we reserved and then put us in a totally different room that was awful. Unfortunately it was Christmas, too. The staff was unbelievably rude and actually suggested that we talk to the Police about our dissatisfaction. They gave us directions to the station. They included a breakfast, but ran out of food after the first hour it was open. Who runs out of coffee?! We could not get them to move us or give us a refund for our second night there, so we ended up just eating the money and leaving to try to salvage our Christmas holiday.

Historical Traveler Reviews Best Western Hotel Mondschein Innsbruck

A pleasant, historic place with great views.

My wife and I drove into Innsbruck from Venice in 10/04, found this place easily from a hotel map, checked it out and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. It overlooks the Inn River, the Old Town just across it and the city and surrounding mountains. It's a nicely restored historic structure, well maintained with a pleasant and informative resident manager. Try to get a superior room like ours facing front, which was relatively large, clean, up-to-date with good bath and a bay window offering the above, good views. The rate of E145 was a tad high by US standards, but included tax, a nice b'fast and free garage parking up the hill a ways. It's convenient to the Old Town, shops, restaurants and a big supermarket...also, to nearby ski areas if you have a car. We'd be happy to stay there again.

    Very nice hotel

We were staying in a delux room offering a beautiful view of the Old Town, river Inn and distant mountain ranges. The most beautiful scenery you will discover, however, will be that of a 2,000m+ high mountain range just behind the hotel which may be viewed from a nearby bridge. The towering mountains greet you at the start of your day and please the eye every time you head back for the hotel at the end of a busy day. This was the most unforgettable sight of our stay!

The hotel is located in a beautiful riverside building, impeccably clean and with its own atmosphere (which is hardly tyrolean, though). The room was cozy and filled with light which had an easy access through the large number of windows. Swarovski bathroom was something to behold - it has left a lasting positive impression on my wife! The personnel were kind and helpful. The breakfest was adequate. We had an enjoyable stay and would certainly come back again!

The only reason we are not giving it a five star rating is because of those fancy artificial flowers in the corridors and rooms. The flowers we saw were looking rather old and covered with dust!!! They must have been "adorning" the place for a number of years. They definitely do not fit there and contrast sharply with the otherwise clean and cozy atmosphere of the hotel.

    We loved the Mondschein

Among the reasons for our booking into the Mondschein were the positive reviews we had read, including those posted on Trip Advisor. I am happy to say that the hotel far exceeded our expectations. The hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing and we received very good advice from the staff on things we could do.

I especially want to commend the staff at the front desk for going out of their way to make our visit a truly memorable one. We had a charming room facing the Inn River and the old city. The bathroom attached was very tastefully renovated and decorated with Swarovski crystals! What a touch of luxury! Breakfast was very good and plentiful.

We will certainly stay at the Mondschein on our next visit to Innsbruck.

    Mondschein needs to spruce up

First, the positive review. The location is fantastic! Almost makes up for any downside to the hotel. Parking is free in a small tight garage. Staff is very helpful and very pleasant. Our room was large enough and clean and had a wonderful view of the old town and river.

On the other hand - the hotel is in the process of renovation and certainly needs it. The halls are unappealing and dusty (due to the ongoing work) with truly awful artificial flower bouquets everywhere. Our room was airless and hot with the windows closed and very noisy with them open. Breakfast was adequate but not as good as that at any other hotel during our recent stay (June, 2004).

    Wonderful place

This hotel was lovely and in an excellent location. I had a beautiful view of innsbruck river and old town. One of the nicest hotels I've seen for such good value.

Disaster Horrible DEFINTELY NOT a ONE STAR HOTEL

December 4 - 11, 2003 You must have stayed at another hotel. 48 of us agree terrible - no drawers - lived out of luggage all week - this was the newly renovated rooms - tub DANGEROUS VERY VERY SLIPPERY one woman fell and others slipped and had bruise marks - sides too high for getting in and out - srvice rude, food horrible, we were all hunting for a McDonalds, Burger King, or Waffle House - only good meals we had were our lunchs and 2 dinners away from the hotel. Lighting terrible could not read, could not see to put on make up - no amenties - no coffee/tea pot in room - nothing just a bare room on and on noisy - street noise all night. WE are all travelers thoughout the world and we all agreed this was the worst of the worst, especially since we had to spend all week. On and on nothing good to say, except that we were withing walking distance of the Innsbruck Christmas Market, but I am sure there are other hotels within walking distance that are much better.

    Mondeshein: Good Value

This was our first trip to Innsbruck, so I cannot comment on how this hotel compares to others in the area. The hotel is fairly easy to find off of the autobahn and offers a great location on the river near the old town. The front desk staff speaks english well and tries to be accomodating for restaurant recommendations and the like. The parking garage is just up the road and is necessary if driving to Innsbruck as we were not able to find parking anywhere else. The rooms (on the back side of the hotel) were well equiped, however, they might be a bit small if you were to stay a week (twin bedded room). There is a nice writing desk and armoire to store your clothes. The bathroom is gleaming white with a brilliant blue stone floor. The bathtub is a large soaking tub with a shower head and glass panel. Very nice and very clean. We would stay here again.

Wonderful hotel, fantastic location, excellent service!

My husband& I stayed at the Mondschein Sept.16-22. We had a breathtaking view of the Inn river with those wonderous mountains in the backround from the window of our clean, spacious room. The buffet breakfast was excellent& served in a spotless Tirolian decorated dining room. The desk staff were all helpful to the max& knowledgable. The hotel is just a short walk to the old city&we rented a car this visit& the Mondschein has free parking. We love Innsbruck& visit frequently, this was our first stay at Hotel Mondschein but it won't be our last!

Very nice hotel at great location

This is a very nice hotel. Great location opposite the historic Old Town directly at the river Inn. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with beautiful view. Nice bathroom made of blue marble. Very friendly hotel staff. I highly recomend this hotel.

Thought we would try something different this time so after disembarking we would catch the train over five days to get to Paris. Getting from the ship to the railway was a bit of a pain as it was not clear, you could get a shuttle or people mover but neither puts you at the station. So we legged it in the heat, paid a porter to carry our bags over …

We had intended to leave our hotel in Augsburg early as we had planned to travel to near Fussen to have a look at the Ludwig Castle which was the inspiration for the Disney castle. The combination of a beer/wine and a big dinner as well as a reasonable day in the saddle culminated in an unexpected sleep in so we set off a bit later than anticipated. Although the road to Fussen was classed as a highway it was a lovely ride nonetheless as we swept through ...
