... Then up the funicular to the mountain overlooking Como, not happy with view at that height we decide to walk up to the lighthouse. Snow covered following last weeks cold blast we make our way up - a long way - finally arriving at 'the lighthouse'. The view was spectacular, well the view as best it can be here with quite dense haze/smog. We could see the water but sadly the Swiss Alps, whilst could be seen, were blurry. (Switzerland is ...

Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

We arrived at the Milan Bergamo airport at around 8:30. We met a nice lady at the tourist desk who helped us ...

... not many places were open but it was lovely just to be wandering about in cooler air! Dinner tonight was at La Loconda dell'amore - the restaurant just over the road from our hotel. I tried the traditional Milanese Risotto - made with butter and saffron. It tasted ok but was missing veggies and/or meat! Peter was adventurous and tried the Spaghetti Marinara, containing mussels, scampi, calamari, prawns etc! It looked ...

... we tried to look as if we knew what we were doing! We were unscathed, but lots of tourists who got on our train were caught. We had a nice old Italian gentleman sitting opposite us, which made for a pleasant trip. Being first class they brought around drinks and chips ( though this didn't happen when we came from Rome to Milan, maybe because they were on strike?). Arrived in Mestre, and had to wait for twenty minutes for next leg. At this stage ...
