... take over describing it.)

The U995 sits on the beach at Laboe on a cradle with two sacrilegiously cut (but necessary for the tour) holes in the side of the boat. Walking into the entrance you are placed in the aft torpedo room with the single tube open and ready for inspection. Moving forward through the electrical and diesel spaces, the impression is that there s plenty of headroom (but that's coming from a short guy ...
Laboe, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany kveetiWoo... my first nationals!

I was lucky enough to join the Frankfurt squad for the Mixed Nationals this weekend in Kiel. The smart people got a group ticket and took the train...since Kiel is really really far away (by European standards), but I decided a trip with the team in the 9 seater van would be more entertaining. That was the thought, until we got an hour or two outside Frankfurt and ...

Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany timae... town of rats which he did but was not paid for it so he returned and in vengeance lured the children away and they were never found. The rain fell as we left and we drove on north to the town of Lubeck on the northern coast . We stopped here to camp overnight at a basic but overpriced campsite just out of the centre. We planned to get the ferry to Denmark tomorrow from nearby.
Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany kasnsqueak... on the hostel website a place listed here in Heide, though the internet said they had no room for tonight. But I took my chance anyway. When I arrived they said they had no room, then Inga, the owner, remembered it was Tuesday and that she did have a room available. This place is more of a B&B then hostel. So this is where I am. I went for a walk through town and they have the most amazing houses and buildings. It definitely has that ...
Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany cobra1899... whole of the first part of the journey to work out how to use the on board ticket machine. Even the Germans seemed to have trouble. Actually we need not have bothered as no one ever asked to see tickets. The Bad Oldesloe to Hamburg stretch was by a fast modern double-decked train. These are very comfortable if you can get a seat, but not much space for standing if not! On reaching Hamburg we ...

For dinner we had 2 types of classic German potato salad & sausages which we all loved. Martin, who is a nurse working in a psychiatric unit, got back from work about 8.00 so we had a nice chat to him, but Jutta was not feeling 100% so we had an early night all round. Wed 16th July Alison: Martin had ...

It then became a Latin school, which was dissolved in 1665. The remains of the abbey and school library became the foundation of the library of the newly founded University of Kiel. 1773-1865 the area of Bordesholm was administrated by the King of Denmark by virtue of his being Duke of Holstein.
Bordesholm, Germany jeitaro... away with the promise of a warm bed and a good nights sleep. On getting on this train with a lot of rowdy Germans there were not many seats and as we had our huge bags which wasn't good. Murray secured a place in a double seat but i had to join two Germans at a table who were less than pleased to see me sitting there. Ignoring their probable death threats i sat down and gave them a smile which didn't help, but the rest of the journey went with out a hitch. Getting off this train ...
Lübeck, Germany barber.timothyThe Kiel Canal links the North Sea with the Baltic Sea. It starts from the River Elbe and reaches the Baltic near the port of Kiel about 60 miles. The canal was only about 300 feet wide and only 37 feet deep and is spanned by 7 high bridges. The transit time was about 8 hours as we were going slow.
