... dinner we had a traditional Swedish meal with a smörges torte entree and taco and vegetable pies for dinner. Dessert was Spomenka's Strawberry Cake (so good) and our biscuits. We were also lucky enough to have some light entertainment for the evening. Stinas' dad performed some magic tricks which were alot of fun. I still can't figure out how he did his final trick. Very Clever. As a special treat, and much to Stina's horror she played ...
Mantorp, Östergötlands Län, Sweden heathjeThis weekend we went to Linkoping to stay at the twins appartment near their uni. We went up Saturday afternoon and just relaxed a bit. Their appartment is really nice, with a bedroom each, a large living room and great kitchen and dining area. The view of the neighbourhood from their window was good too. Later that evening we went with the twins, Maria, and Mathilda (also a twin with Amanda) to Linkoping city cetral to party the night away. First we went to Platens where ...
Linköping, Östergötlands Län, Sweden heathje... He flew a Saab fighter jet and was an air traffic controller. He conducted dangerous missions by flying close to Soviet air space and measuring air quality reading when the Soviet's were testing atomic and hydrogen bombs. We had our FIKA with Marianne's home made cookies and another either cloudberry or lingonberry pie. We spoke about Scandinavian baking and reminisced ...
Mjolby, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden victorkubik... me, this brought painful new meaning into the word "non-refundable." Important lesson learned. Frustration and anguish. So, we spend much more time at the Tallinn airport than thought. We finally boarded a little Estonian Air Saab jet prop to Stockholm for a flight that we had no listing before. Travel Tip #87: When in a foreign country you have few rights and no leverage. You cannot easily make a phone call ...
Mjolby, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden victorkubikDay 3 was our last day and we had to get up really early for a bus at around 5 in the morning. We then had hours to kill before our flight home. On the flight we were just leaving when someone was taking ill so we had to go back and unload them, they were taken off in an ambulance.

Norrköping, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden hannah0We spent the second day just chilling out and looking around the town (not much to see in winter) before heading to a sports bar for dinner and then to the concert.

The concert was amazing and afterwards we went to the stage door. After waiting ages we were told that Kerry and Mazz had gone out the front door so we ran round the front, highly embarassing as it was a glass building so Mazz saw us run round.
Norrköping, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden hannah0... playing random games. It was a bit of a worry that our bus had a huge crack down the windscreen though. However, when we got there Laura left her bag on the bus so we had to run after it. Thankfully someone on the bus saw us and got the driver to stop.

Hostel

So Laura's friend met us at the bus stop and showed us where our hostel was right above the train station but we couldn't get in ...
That would have a been a difficult venture because of train hopping to the various islands and the long ferry back to Sweden. But, we did have a friendly chat with the people we were going to see and will work out visiting them on another trip to this area. This will help us more reasonably see everyone we need to in Norway before flying back to Indianapolis on Thursday, January 10th. After the guests left Paul, Kira and I got into Publisher and laid out our next Nordic ...
Mjölby, Sweden victorkubik... so I ran back to find the train had already left. She was able to recover the bag by waiting for the same train to come back (only about 25 minutes). Very lucky! One of the first things we noticed was that it cost a buck to use the toilets, a sign of just how bad the exchange rates are! Eventually we were picked up by our friends, Adam & Asa and arrived at Asa's parents house (Mia & Jan). To See our Picts: www.flickr.com/gp/9114022@N06/i909UC
