    We had the most beautiful weather today - it was about 70 and sunny all day - a local marching band greeted us upon arrival, including 3 cannon shots!!! They are very excited in Fredericia to have cruise ships coming, so the whole town came to welcome us and send us off!!!! It was a holiday in all of Denmark, constitution day, so they had crafts in the park and there were celebrations everywhere. We had a guide ...

    ... than mum and dad I suppose. Anyway, the reason for mentioning all this at all, was the fact that they were using a type of windsurfing board that I have never seen, called a formula one. It was wide and stubby and sported a carbon-fibre skeg (very dear), the thickness of which depends upon the weight of the person riding the board. It needs to be flexible, but not too much and the idea of these boards is that they fly downwind ...

    ... the mile or so into Middelfart. We could have used the small town harbour but we decided instead to make use of the better equipped marina on the outskirts.     So, here it starts. The big bike adventure I had been dreaming about for so long. Maybe not so big in duration as I only had 1 week holiday, but the distance, the area and the first proper long trip on the old Katana.
