... aren't a whole lot of functioning pay phones around. Finally I get through, explain the situation, and am told that those are probably just pending charges that will be dropped after a couple of days, since the calls didn't go through. Still not totally at ease, I decide to continue my journey, determined not to think about it too much. I follow the valley heading southwest, starting a very gradual climb once again.
