      ... lucky this year :) So I arrived in Rotterdam and met my couchsurfing host, Marjolein. It was a nice afternoon. We dropped my bag at her house and then we took her bike and went to the waterfront for a drink. One weird thing I learned is that, when you ride a bike here, to brake, up just pedal backwards, there are rarely hand brakes. I found it quite disorientating. And also, I'm tiny compared to these Dutch girls, so hardly any of the bikes are low enough for me to touch ...
