We were going to head to Lisbon but decided to stop in Nazare first. Nazare is a pretty ocean town that is very busy in the summer with tourists and beach goers. ... some are unbelievable and beautiful such as the round church and the tiled chapels. There are long hallways with many small rooms where the monks and novices would sleep. The doors to these rooms are almost shorter then me which was kind of funny. There are 8 cloisters with fountains and beautifully decorated walls and architecture.

After walking for a couple hours we decided that we had seen the place sufficiently and we made our way back to the car.

Fatima - where the lady of Fatima appeared to 3 children! It was an amazing place because of the story happened in early 20th century. It sounds so real.. so I did some research on it after I returned to the US.

... streets of the old town in order to get our bearings and more importantly to find somewhere to sleep. We settled upon Residencial Uniao as the location couldn't be bettered, the place itself had more than a little character being in an old town house, and the bathroom was huge. ... 8211; Obidos being the highlight. Obidos is an incredibly well preserved medieval walled village full of character. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

And while Lisbon was one of the nicest surprises of our travels yet, the enjoyment from the rest and relaxation along the coast was not far behind. Yes, even I was able to sit and enjoy the sun and quiet.
