... 65 miles in, I stopped at a store. Two guys walked up and were blown away by my bike. They wanted to know all about it. They thought it was hilarious and had never heard of bike touring. Their reactions were very over the top and amusing to me. I got a few miles of flat but once I got into Hannibal, it got super steep. I got to my campsite at 98.2 miles, so I biked further down the highway. I'm glad I did, because I got to see some cool sights of the Mississippi ...
... Lake manmade and feels it. Not a good vibe around here. A hot 85 degrees. Have electric and blasting the AC-took a short bike ride down to the man made lake-probably 20 feet down! Drought throughout the mid west. corn and soy all look burnt to a crisp!
Hannibal is all about Mark Twain.....so much is the Mark Twain Diner, ballpark, etc. Didn't spend anytime there because ...
... down to the Gulf. They had jetted to New York and rented a RV vehicle for their trip. One of man in the group had just come back from a Paris to Beijing motorcycle ride!
I also climbed up 244 steps to a lighthouse that was dedicated to Mark Twain and when I was about half way up I man told me not to bother there was nothing there to see and he was right!
But I was pleased I could climb the stairs without pausing.
Tomorrow it's off to St Louis to play.

For dinner we went to Mark Twain’s Diner for dinner. Good fried chicken and onion rings. When dinner was finished we took a ride around the area passed the home of the Unsinkable Molly Brown who use to live in Hannibal. As a matter of fact she was on her way back to Hannibal ...
... Twain’. I called and was able to obtain a reservation for tonight. We had an hour in a half to only go 2 blocks. That gave us some time to rest a bit and leisurely walk over to the boat landing. On arrival I purchased our tickets and we still had a few moments to browse the gift shop. At 6pm the doors to the boat opened and we got in line to board.
