... with a French children's rights NGO called Terre des Hommes, one with the Director of the International Peace Bureau, and one that was with a friend and her friend who have started an NGO for street children in Uganda and have done quite a bit of hands on research of Ugandan schools. This week I have three more, one from a child labor specialist at the ILO, one with a graduate professor of children's rights and education, and one ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineurope... For example “Why are they eliminating sidewalks in Appenzell? Because too many people were committing suicide by jumping off the curbs!” The people of the canton of Fribourg are teased about not being very clean. One Fribourgeois decided to save space by having his goat live in the house with him. His neighbor asks him “What about the smell?” to which the farmer response “The goat got used to it!” The people of the ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... up as a B&B. They very kindly make a room available for me when I'm in the region. I got settled in and rested a bit. And around 4:00 we took their dog Loupi (from lupus or loup, Latin and French respectively for wolf) for a walk through the vinyards and farm fields near their house. It was a cool but pleasant and clear evening. Loupi ran through the fields, dug for rodents, and had to be called back from chasing the horses and riders we encountered. In spite of the noise we ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... of time later, the French MD finally entered the room. He read my translated paper and decided to do a Fast Strep test. I explained to him that I commonly got sinus infections, reiterated those were my symptoms and asked for an antibiotic to clear it. He indicated he'd see what the Strep test showed. Another 20:49 minutes later he returned to share that the Strep test was negative and proceeded to write me not one but 5 ...

Ferney-Voltaire, Rhône-Alpes, France traceybelleFrom there we went to Geneva to meet up with Conor and Diane. Since we got there so early, Jon and I started touring the city and randomly ran into them, and Conor’s parents, at the UN building. So we toured the city with them, went to the biggest flee market selling all sorts of random sutff (mostly garbage). WE also ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sofenjon... it was a great day. When I finally got home I had dinner with the family and crashed.

This morning I helped my hostdad and my sisters prepare lunch for us and some family friends. The food continues to be amazing, and I am learning a thing here and there about cooking. I also took a little walk and took pictures of my house and my surroundings. So ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineuropeWe barely got any sleep last night. We woke up earlier than we had planned, thinking we had plenty of time to get to the airport. Our first glitch was when we found out that a 2-day train pass does NOT mean 48 hours...it means 2 calendar days! :P So we had to scramble to get on the train to begin with! Then we got on the wrong platform, which was to take us to Paris ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland lunababy... and pottery museum, then turned away from the Red Cross/Red Crescent Museum--which turned out not to be free. Well, actually it did, since we didn't pay to go in. So it was free for us, after a fashion. After a ride across town and past the impressive lake fountain, we visited the Art, Music, and history museum. Or something like that. There were old instruments, old weapons, old rooms, a floor of art, a floor ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sponger42... very busy, though, so that seems to be the place Geneveans (?) go to be seen in their speedos and topless bikinis. It wasn't very comfortable (laying wise), so I didn't last too long. And I don't swim so cooling off in the lake wasn't an option. For dinner, we went to a cafe in the old town. I had a green salad (5.50) and baked lasagna ($20) which was very good and a glass of wine (3.20). Again an early evening - Andy has to meet Keith at 7:30am.
