... the servers did not speak English. It was great. We used our translation app to figure out a few things, used some of the basic phrases we've learned to order, and felt pretty proud of ourselves for being able to navigate Italian only. There's no way we could have done that our first day in Rome, that's for sure. We finally found some greens (never thought we'd be SO happy for salad!) and shared a basic Margherita pizza ...

La Morra , the little town I chose, is a very small 16th century cobblestoned village, very well preserved and not as touristy as the famous Barolo village 3 kms away. It is the highest village in the Langhe so we had fantastic views of the area, and could see all the other ...

... we found this amazing local Pizza place, it one that the locals use, so there was no English going on at all. But we got 2 medium Pizza's for euros 7, can't moan about that, and we couldn't even eat it all.

The following morning we had arranged to see the The Shroud of Turin, due to circumstances this did not happen, but we went off to our next destination, Capena Rome.

... but we didn't get to taste it. Some of the group bought wine but I chose not to even through the prices were good. A smashed bottle of schnapps at Heathrow still haunts me today. We weaved our way up the street to La Miraja di Gatti Eugenio for lunch. For 20 euros we were given antipasti, two courses and dessert plus wine - great food and great value. Instead of pasta I had asparagus risotto (delicious) and while everyone ...
