... We are currently sitting on a back porch relaxing before dinner. Had time for a quick trip to a local store to replenish soap and sunscreen after we showered. Seems like dinner tends to take close to two hours and then we crash! Amazing how tired we are each night after exercise and fresh air. We have now logged 70 miles on our 9 days of ...

... headed to the little restaurant and enjoyed the local specialty of potatoes with melted cheese out on the grass. (I like Swiss food!). When we were ready to get back on the trail to finish our hike for the day, we pulled out the itinerary to find the name of our hotel. Much to our surprise, we had already arrived! Nicole headed down and carried it back up. It was Alain's bag, and thankfully it wasn't mine, as ...

Day 6 Today we started with a very sharp climb, 600 mts in elevation, to cross the Col du Ferret, and into Switzerland. It was not a very restful night as there were about 30 in our dormitory, with quite a few snorers, many taking a trip to the toilet during the night, and some leaving early this morning, but still the meal last night was great, the bed comfortable and the showers hot. One downside of this almost new lodge was it had squat toilets. Oooooooh the ...

Freezing fun and a trip to a "loose" canyon

... intense cold drove us inside. Ironically, Bev, the only one who grew up in a country where it snows regularly, stayed inside.

After recovering from frostbite we rode the cable car again to the top station through a total whiteout. 3,883m at the top and it was rather cold outside!

Seeing we were cold we thought it would be a great idea to visit the Glacier Paradise - essentially a cave cut through the ice with some ice carvings scattered throughout the cave. I can tell ...
