... amp; I remember being like "we don't mix alcohol & politics together in CA..." which she thought was very interesting that we didn't share our views! But she definitely made sure to let us know what SHE thought of pur president, how great he is for our country & all the wonderful things he is doing! LOL. Such a trip! ... for 4 years with my friend Wijnand who called himself Robert while in Australia,only to find out that he had passed away and that he did not had my address to contact me in the short period before his death when he was able to do so. I am glad I found him and his neighbours who were able to fill in the gaps in his life’s story.

... of Holger. Holger greeted us warmly and gave us a very nice briefing about the history of Amsterdam. As it turns out, he teaches Architecture at a German University (Germany is less than an hour's drive away!)

Within a few minutes of arriving at the Vondelpark apartment, Erika was of course excited to go explore Amsterdam. I obliged her within an hour or so of our arrival and we took another tram to the city center (or "Centrum" in Dutch).

... It's a great feeling walking through towns that are built for walking and cycling and not cars, so much more friendlier and pleasant to get around. We enjoyed the clog making presentation at the wooden shoe factory and then took the bus to Zaanse Schans to visit some windmills. This was another relaxing experience, wandering around and then taking in a demonstration of the windmill which crushes peanuts to create peanut oil and another by product that is used ...
