... slot machines. Nowhere did we see any "quit smoking" signs and in fact saw one cigarette dispensing machine in the front garden of a private home in Lörrach. Lörrach is very close to the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland. Again there were no border controls to stop at however there was evidence of where the border was and police were in attendance. We continued our "no motorway" driving even though it annoyed Peter to go around numerous roundabouts ...

... and the cafe chairs we had sat in the day before are FULL of snow. Incredible. Just four days ago I got a sunburn on Jungfrau and now I am in my snow bunny gear. It's pretty to see the bookends of spring and winter in the same week. Time to pack---and then a last dinner with Aileen and Bärbel. ... some of the old town. We had plans to go back out at night to see the Christmas lights so we didn't stay long this time around. Our room at the hostel is a six bed dorm. Our bunk is separated from the other two bunks by a wall. It is like we have our own separate room with a window and a heater. A bonus is that the lockers can fit our whole bag in them. It is a super cute hostel and would be amazing if the price was lower. Ugh.

This morning we went back to Estavayer-le-Lac because we liked it there the day before. It is a medieval town with lots of lovely narrow streets and a small castle. After a short walk we continued back up north past Bern and then south-east onto Interlaken. A little further from there towards Jungfrau we found a lovely campsite in the valley (valley of 72 waterfalls) in Stechelberg. During the trip down here the weather ...
