... We heard some Luxemburgish music and I liked it. Conrad worked on the computer to map our route for tomorrow while Karyn and I chatted. Spoogy sat in her lap for a bit and then made his way to mine. He is a very sweet dog! We all went to bed at 11 pm. I stayed up for an hour more to upload pictures while making a tent with my blanket. I hid under it because it was warmer that way! I drifted off to sleep at midnight.
Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg tonkin... Roman ruins and the churches up close. Trier was very nice and I love the feeling there, the Roman baths were also really cool to see. We also had a great dinner in the main square of town. I had Pepper Steak and spetzlah. It was so good. The seats outside were great and I was able to people watch and really just embrace in the culture. Plus a little wine probe, wine tasting, helped a lot.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg drunkendidierOur second day in Luxembourg City started off with a visit to Cathedrale Notre Dame. Seems like a lot of cities have a church with this name. Neither Mila or I are very religious but for some odd reason we love walking into churches. Old churches. The older the better. Especially when it's empty. I once walked into a church that was completely empty. It had gothic architecture and was lit only by candles. Only a few rays of sunlight was able to peek through the stained glass ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg latersThe train ride to Luxembourg City was fairly quick, about an hour. The area surrounding the train station was generic, not much to see. The charm of Luxembourg is found in the city center, so we quickly made our way to our hotel. Hotel Italia is one of those hotels I'm sure you're all familiar with. You know, half restaurant, half hotel. Where the hostess stand doubles as a check-in counter. The entrance to the restaurant gives ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg latersYesterday we decided that since we were driving through Luxembourg, we would stop and have a look. We drove into Luxembourg city and were really surprised at how nice the town was. It is over 1,000 years old and there were so many old buildings and churches, as well as a castle. We went into a church that was built in 963…it is so crazy to think of something that is that old ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg armajor7... pictures, but have not loaded those onto my computer yet. I will hopefully post some here soon. I started classes yesterday, and so far have had my Rise and Fall of Hitler history class, My Geography of Europe class, and my Conversational French class. Today I will have my Peoples of Europe class as well. So far, I like my classes and think I will learn a lot. I ...
Arlon, The Ardennes, Belgium alina-beth... in til 11. Did our requested chore of getting milk from neighbor's farm (freshest best milk we've had), ate bread with jam and sac magique (lebanese herbal mix and olive oil), chilled and worked on internet getting hostels and writing this, ate Brunch of leftovers cooked in Aga (their stove that heats the entire house, dries clothes and cooks their food, they don't have a microwave). Jad took us back into town, first to see an ...

... in between was spending more and more time not doing the moves or flashing the smile. A Danish girl finally put us on the right track to "the spot" and as soon as we got there another Martin picked us up. His enthusiasm for the endeuro2000 was overwhelming and when he dropped us in Namur I had a very strong feeling that it wasn't the last time he would be a part of e2k. A little guy whose name I unfortunately didn't catch whisked, and I mean whisked us away from Namur ...
