We drove from Vaasa to Oulu yesterday. Oulu is the largest northern town in Finland. Our hotel was close to the water which was nice. Today, we set off to walk along the riverside park. We were sad to see him go, he was a wonderful companion and considering just how close the ...

... confess to getting exasperated with Richard for not understanding the simplest of instructions yesterday when we were moving the boat a little to gain access to a hosepipe – I kept on saying ‘put the loop of rope in your left hand over that black bollard behind you’ and he kept on doing it wrongly. I said in frustration ‘I don’t see how I can make it any clearer’ as I was close to stamping my feet and it was then that he kindly ...

... of watching a small seaplane manoeuvre in the harbour – we must have been out walking when it arrived and we hadn’t noticed it amongst the boats. Soon it exited the harbour and took off. It was really tiny, with a cockpit just large enough for two people, one behind the other. That was a first.

Later on the wind fell completely and we were treated to a gorgeous evening, with limpid seas and bright sunshine – absolutely ...
