We left the Gallapogas on Saturday 29th August for a very long day ahead of plane rides. We had to get 4 fligths to reach our destination of Santaigo (2 back from Galapogas to Quito) and then from Quito to Santiagoa, changing planes on route in Lima, Peru. Poor Shar found it hard as she is such a bad flyer with her head. We eventually got to Santiago early on Sunday morning and straight to bed for a well deserved rest. We had good sleep in and rest as check out was at 12am on the ...
Santiago, Chile sharor... style with sewn on repair patches all over) and wore our rain coats. I was really hoping for sunny weather!! Andy also came with us for the day and went for renting the full outfit which was hilarious as he was given purple trousers and a red and blue ski jacket that looked like he was delivering a Dominos pizza, and of course it was all about four sizes too big in any case. Frank and Jo, the Aussie couple from our tour also came along but had never skied before ...
Santiago, Chile samsonite32... has been a lot. Over 15,000k by road, the same by plane, a few thousand km's by foot, 1000 or so on motorbike the most significant have always been crossing the Andeas or cordillera (in spanish) in whatever country. The pinacle bus trip has to be driving over the cordillera from Mendoza to Santiago. Passing the formidable Cerro Aconcagua (6962m) (the tallest of any moutain outside of the Himalayers), riding down the ...
Santiago, Chile thepolishmaori... chance to see some of the sites and share these experiences with Michael. I wish him luck and warmth as he heads further south into Patagonia. I love him with all my heart and hope they might have a different condiment to offer besides mayonnaise. : ) Jessica ¨So kiss me and smile for me Tell me that youll wait for me Hold me like youll never let me go Cause Im leavin on a jet plane Dont know when Ill be back again Oh babe, I hate to go¨ John Denver
Santiago, Chile mhutto... Valley and stood next to the conveyers and press) vs. the quick tour of the MUCH larger Concha y Toro estate (with gardens) was certainly a contrast. I took away from both tours a new love for the Carmenere grape (and a bottle of Carmenere wine from Aquitania to enjoy back in Santiago). Another highlight of my time in Santiago was meeting Christian Urazan and his wife, Paola, for dinner on Friday night. I was introduced to Christian by my longtime ...

... there... the bar was a little place owned by a really nice Chilean... he gets English ESPN so we were able to watch the game and enjoy some good food... unfortunately, the game was terrible... afterward, we headed to Suecia street about four blocks from our place to drink some really cheap beer and play cards... Sunday, we headed to a HUGE weekly market on BioBio Street... found a fold ...
Santiago, Chile simsinchile... good views when we got to the top of the hill as well. This evening we made ourselves some sort of Mexican dish concoction involving peppers, chilli, pasta, chicken etc. Really nice, but pretty hot....slightly worried about the potential exit temperature of the remains!! Pleasant thoughts. By the way, do you think the Queen screws her face up when trying to pooh? And do you think there is a fanfare upon completion of the task? Thoughts.
Santiago, Chile vickersontour... lunchtime, and back to Gonzo´s apartment for a week, and it really does feel like home! We´ve just done some laundry maintenance, and are looking forward to a relaxing evening in. Tomorrow we will be working out how to get to Valparaiso for a couple of days.
