... I couldn't find the street. The streets in Calgary are ridicules. There's 1st, 1st N St, 1st S st, all around the same area, and that is just one example.

Not too much snow on the car at the airport, which was a nice surprise. The driveway at home wasn't quite so nice, but was good enough to get in and out.

... where the heart is. It sounds great in a song, but becomes a problem when you feel you’ve made a home in two different places. Does that mean your heart has to be split in two? I think many of you will understand; I actually do feel like Africa has taken a part of my heart.
There. Now you know! But I don’t think it would be fair to end it there. Not only because that list should be way longer and will grow over the next while, but because I ...

Yes I am safely back home, having navigated the Rome and Toronto International Airports by myself and lived to tell the tale (but I might have a nervous twitch for a week)!

For any of you thinking of a DIY trip to Italy I thought I would include a few travel tips. First of all it is very easy to travel in Italy without having to be confined to a tour group (I like tours, I do take tours, and they certainly fill a need) but Italy needs to be savored slowly which just cannot be ...

    What a great hotel!

My family & I had a great stay at the Delta Calgary South. The great impression started when we checked in and the check-in clerk was friendly and eager to make us feel comfortable.

The experience just got better from there. The room was large, clean and comfortable. There were down duvets and plenty of pillows. We went to the pool, complete with a water slide and the kids had a great time.

To top off our experience, when we checked out the clerk asked about our stay and offered places that we should see on the way out of town.

This hotel is a definite stay again when we are in Calgary.

Satisfactory stay, but probably wouldn't go back

Our stay at the Best Western Hospitality Inn Calgary (now known as the Delta Calgary South) got off to a rocky start due to the renovations taking place in the hotel. I had read the previous reviewer's comment about these renovations, but the Best Western Hospitality Inn's website indicated that the renovations were going to be complete in July 2006, and I believed them (silly, I know).

    Perfectly Fine Hotel

We recently stayed and had a fabulous time! Very close to everything we needed and the food and staff were great. Recommend to Families and Business.

    Good after scary start

Our first impressions of the hotel were pretty scary! The hotel is actually TWO hotels divided by a busy road. There is a third floor walkway that joins the two. Anyway...I went on line and saw BEAUTIFUL pictures of the atrium side of the hotel. Pictures of balconies over looking a big pool and a I booked through Best Western and paid 10 bucks more for this side of the hotel and not the standard tower. WRONG!!! When we got there we pulled into the ATRIUM SIDE we pulled into a VERY EMPTY PARKING LOT with HOMEMADE SIGNS!!! We did go and in and it is under MAJOR RENOVATIONS!!!! Were talking plaster everywhere, dark hallways, detours through dusty paths, NO POOL, NO Nothing! We did make it to the room - which was facing the road! (ALL Rooms during the reno face the road) We were not happy - since we paid more money for pool experience!!!

    Good! Good!

What a difference a day makes. After 4 days at the Chateau Canmore, which was expensive and terrible, we get to the Best Western Hospitality Inn in Calgary and it was like heaven. The room was big, clean, smelled great. The check in was suberb and the price reasonable. The only inconvenience was the elevator, one was out of order and Sunday breakfast. You needed a reservation; we were not made aware of that on Saturday afternoon when we checked in, so no breakfast. The new boomtown pub had great atmosphere and great service, but the food was pricey and a little wierd.

It was easy to find, close to a few malls and shops. We would stay here again anytime. In fact, we liked it so much that on our next trip to Canmore, we will stay at the Best Western there.

    Nice Hotel

This is a nice hotel that is well decorated. The room was very comfy and the waterslide was fun. The courtyard pool is warm and therefore not good for swiming. There are two buildings one being an 8 story tower, the other being a courtyard/poolview which I believe was probley the first building there. It is across the street from Wal-Mart. It is very easy to get to. There were a couple problems when we were there it which was the renovations which therefore made the lobby a mess and is also made the fire alarms go of a couple times the day we got there. The Other problem was the manager who was so rude and came and yelled at my friend and I for not just siting nicely and going down the slide. I can also say I was not Inpressed with the fact that there was no free breakfast. Overall you get just as much or more at the Comfort Inn in Motel Village and it is much cheaper. I would recomended it to people eho do not have to worry about money.

Best bet for quality accomodation in south Calgary.

Generally this hotel is a great choice for accomdation in South Calgary. It is situated ideally next to Macleod Tr. (a vital North - South artery) and Souhtland Dr. (east-west connector). There is ample parking and a variety of shopping within walking distance (Southcentre mall, wal-mart, strip-malls, Canadian Tire). Aside from the dining and bars located in the hotel, you can easily walk to a number of restaurants and bars including Jack Astor's Restaurant and Bar and the world famous "Ranchman's" country western saloon (live music Thur. - Sat.). It is about a 15 min. walk from the LRT (light rail transit trains) that take you to downtown or further south.

    Pretty Good

I found a few problems but mostly O.k here is the list of Pros and cons.

    Pros list

    1. Nice clean room

    2. Beautifal courtyard with relaxing pool

    3. Good waterslide

    4. kind desk clerks

    5. safe hotel.

    6. quiet

    cons list

    1. Rude manager

    2. Renovations going on so torn up a bit

    3. Fire alarm want off twice because of renos.

Our trip was 2 years ago and so the renovations will be done and hopefully the fire alarm does not go off. So now the only con is the rude manager maybe. This hotel is recomended.
