"We are the chocolate chip on your vacation cookie!" Today was a day of two halves weather-wise. We had to drive in the morning through some of the wettest conditions we've had on our holiday - really horrible stuff where the rain and the spray makes it hard to see the car in front. Before we left, Peter spotted dolphins from our balcony swimming …

I pushed the date for that trip a few times now but 2014 appears to be the year I'm doing it. What follows is whether I will go by what I've told myself years ...

It was very over the top ceremonial as the sergeant inspected the guard taking over the duty and all his kit, spinning the rifle round in his hands and checking for dust on everything, and they addressed us all in very official voices. We were quite surprised when he told off a member of the public for having their bag in the 'plaza' where the ceremony is conducted, and were even ...

This morning we got up, had a quick breakfast and took the metro(subway) over to the Pentagon. We had tour tickets we had to get more than 2 weeks in advance, to pass security. We had an hour tour at the Pentagon. After that we went around the side to the 9-11 Pentagon Memorial. Very sobering. There is a bench for every person who died ...
