... wanted to get to Mulege, a further 40 miles or so but the heat was taking its toll and I had lost an hour as the time had changed at the border. After asking at a few hotels which were all full, found a nice one on the edge of town for has air con, a pool and sea views Yippee !!

The original Opata-speaking inhabitants are down to fifteen in number, and they all live in Mexico, D. F. now. It’s a shame. Later that afternoon we drive to downtown Hermosillo to walk our dogs and discover the charms of Hermosillo. We then realize that 1) there isn’t much of a downtown in Hermosillo, 2) we are probably the only foreigners in town, and 3) locals are really scared of Manly and Biela, which is pretty convenient if you want to be left alone.
