    ... eastbound I-10 had just been opened. So we joined the parade of bumper-to-bumper semis in both lanes and headed east. We were able to exit a few miles down and made it to a jam after all, but I'll leave that story for another day.

    For now, I've decided to share photos separately; will do so on the usual e-mail route. Not because it's better that way, but because I haven't figured how to do it on this blog!

    ... near Spanish Fort, Alabama not too long after lunch. I really had to laugh at the fact that when we got to the "Welcoming Center" near the Alabama border, it was closed. I decided to make a pit stop and the restrooms were closed for cleaning. What is it that the word welcome signifies in the big AL state?
